Humanitarian projects, a blood drive, Adopt-A-Grandparent and a carnival for children with disabilities are just a few of the events planned for Utah Valley University’s UVolunteer week of service scheduled to begin March 30 and run through April 4.
"UVU’s mission statement is all about engaged learning and community engagement," said Alexis Palmer, director of the Volunteer & Service-Learning Center at UVU. "I don’t know a better way to manifest our mission than through a week of service in our own UVU community as well as our local and international community."
The event kicks off Monday, March 30, with a party at Center Stage from noon - 2 p.m. where the band The Yarrow will perform. In addition to food and prizes, attendees will participate in five-minute service projects and learn about service opportunities in Utah County.
The week of service continues each day with a different project before concluding with a cleanup of a two-miles stretch of Geneva Road on Saturday, April 4.
Mentors, the Student Alumni Board, the UVU Tennis Club, PR Firms and Clubs, UVU LDSSA, CAL, the Service Council, UVUSA and Kappa Sigma are spearheading events each day.
