Congressman Rob Bishop will be speaking at Utah Valley University Monday on "Why It Is Important to Choose a Political Philosophy." Congressman Bishop spent nearly two decades in the Utah State Legislature and now represents Utah in the United States House of Representatives. He serves on the Armed Services, Resources and Education Committees.
Bishop is a resident of Utah and currently lives in Bountiful, Utah, with his wife Jeralynn Hansen Bishop. He has served two terms as state chairman of the Republican Party, as co-founder of the Western States Coalition and now as chair of the Congressional Western Caucus. He spent 28 years as a high school teacher in Utah, teaching American history and government. His 16 years in the Legislature included stints as Majority Leader and being unanimously elected as Speaker of the House.
His address will take place on Monday, Aug. 31, in the Library Auditorium (LI 120) from 10-10:50 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Library Foyer from 11-11:15 a.m. This event is free to the public and is sponsored by UVU's Center for the Study of Ethics.
