Auditions for 'The Fantasticks' to be Held March 26-27

The Utah Valley University Department of Theatrical Arts and the School of the Arts, in partnership with the Sundance Resort, announce auditions for its summer musical "The Fantasticks" to be held March 26-27, from 6-11 p.m., at the Gunther Technology Building, room 632.

"We couldn't have asked for a better marriage. ‘The Fantasticks’ is going to be a return to the Sundance Summer Theatre tradition of great musical theater in a magical setting," said David Tinney, UVU faculty and director of "The Fantasticks."

"UVU theater's partnership has helped Sundance continue this much-loved tradition, while Sundance has allowed UVU to further its mission to engage the community, as well as to provide students an opportunity to apply their studies in a professional setting."

Those auditioning should prepare a short comic monologue and 32 bars of a musical theater style song. An accompanist will be provided. Please no pre-recorded music.

Producers are looking for men ages 18-60 and women ages 18-30 for character roles. In addition, they are looking for a rehearsal accompanist/pianist and harpist. All positions for the production are paid positions.

"The Fantasticks" will open July 31 at the Eccles Theatre at Sundance and will show every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday through August 22.

For more information regarding auditions, please contact David Tinney at (801) 863-6756. UVU performed "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" last year at the Sundance Summer Theatre.
