The celebration of UVU’s 67th birthday, known as Founder’s Day, will give the campus community a chance to celebrate its history and success Sept. 17. Events will be held throughout the day for faculty, staff and students.
The main event is the Founder’s Day Gala where a reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner and entertainment at 7 p.m. will be held in the Sorensen Center Grande Ballroom to recognize those who contributed to UVU’s transition.
“The Alumni Association is excited to celebrate the UVU transition with former and current employees, board members and volunteers at the Founder's Day Gala,” said Jeri Allphin, director of UVU Alumni Relations. “So many people left their mark on the institution over the years and it's wonderful to be able to honor them at the Gala. We're looking forward to seeing people we haven't seen in a long time and celebrating the role they played at the University.” Along with the evening reception, another one will take place earlier in the day to celebrate employees who have worked through UVU’s many name changes. There are 85 salaried employees who have worked at UTC-P, UVCC, UVSC and UVU. Their recognition is at 3 p.m. in Centre Stage in the Sorensen Center.
In addition to the other events, the UVU Student Alumni Board is holding a celebration for students at 11:30 a.m. in the Courtyard and Sorensen Center where there will be entertainment from the live band, Brushfire, and free cake and ice cream for anyone on campus.
