Small Business Owner, Ken Fakler Speaks at Executive Lecture Series

Ever considered being an entrepreneur or starting a small business? Do questions come up, where a little advice would help? Ken Fakler may be the man to answer those questions.

On November 1 at 12 p.m., former owner of Fakler Tires, Ken Fakler will be speaking in the Ragan Theater.

Fakler is currently the managing director of the Small Business Development Center at UVSC. He loves working with small businesses and believes that they are the cornerstone of the U.S. economy. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in finance. He attended the University of Utah and graduated with a Masters of Business Administration degree.

Fakler enlisted in the military and after his service, he and his family moved back to Provo where he joined his father and brother in the family business, Fakler Tire Service. Fakler Tire Service was involved in retailing, wholesaling and commercial distribution throughout central Utah for 35 years.

“Ken is an excellent candidate to speak at the Executive Lecture Series because he is a very successful small business owner,” said Ian Wilson, professor and executive director of the UVSC Foundation. “He has a strong entrepreneurial background. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the business school and is involvement in the community. As managing director of the SBDC, he provides help to UVSC students and the community with their business questions. He is an excellent role model for the students and a good candidate to speak. We hope for a great turnout and attendees should be prepared to learn a lot of business secrets.”

The event is free and open to the public.
