The School of Technology and Computing will host Bryan D. Smith of Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK) as part of its weekly lecture series Nov. 1 in CS 404 at 11:30 a.m.
“I’m excited to share the great things that we’re doing here in Utah to aid in the space program,” said Smith, manager for final assembly production at ATK. “We’re always looking to get good folks interested in science and aerospace.”
Smith graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in manufacturing engineering technology in 1989. The title of his lecture is “ATK’s Transition from Space Shuttle to Ares.” ATK manufactures the space shuttle booster rockets for NASA and has been involved in the shift to Ares, NASA’s new replacement for the space shuttle. The first launch of the new Ares will be in 2013.
The event is free and open to the public.
