BYU Director Speaks as Part of Lecture Series

The School of Technology and Computing will host Leon “Priz” Przybyla, associate director of technology transfer at Brigham Young University, as part of its weekly lecture series Aug. 30 in CS 404 at 11:30 a.m.

Przybyla received his bachelor’s degree from BYU in Microbiology and Chemistry in 1968. Over his career he started seven different companies of his own. After retiring he went back to BYU to take his current position as associate director, where he is responsible for patenting and licensing functions for Civil Engineering.

He will speak on his experience starting companies, as well as technology transfer – the process of developing creative ideas, intellectual property and scientific research into practical applications, inventions and methods.

“This will be a good experience for students to gain better information on technology transfer and entrepreneurship,” said Dave Johnson, associate dean of the school of technology and computing.
