UVSC Hosts Ethics Symposium

Utah Valley State College’s Center for the Study of Ethics will host their Annual Ethics & Public Policy Symposium Sept. 20. Topics will focus on democracy and immigration.

“The issue of immigration is one of the most pressing public policy issues that we confront right now,” said David Keller, director of the Center for the Study of Ethics. “People that live here in Utah need to be educated on the issues surrounding immigration and, most importantly, to have an opinion for when they go to the ballot box.”

The symposium is part of the Democracy House Project, an educational initiative focused on training citizens to become more politically literate. The project was founded by Jeffrey Nielsen, associate lecturer in philosophy at Westminster College and adjunct at UVSC, who will be speaking during the symposium. Other speakers will include educational, religious and governmental leaders from around Utah.

The symposium will take place in five sessions, all on UVSC campus. The event is free and open to the public.
