Norma Gould Receives Distinguished Faculty Award

This fall, Norma Gould, professor and director of Clinical Instruction and Training in Behavioral Science, will receive the UVSC Foundation Distinguished Faculty Award. Thursday, October 25 at 7 p.m. Gould will be giving a lecture after receiving the Distinguished Faculty Award. The event will be held at the Sorensen Student Center, room 206 C.

“Gould was recognized for this award because of her outstanding teaching record and the time she has dedicated to social work in her career. She was highly recommended by the dean and department chair,” said Ian Wilson, professor and executive director of business management.

Gould’s distinguished career has included teaching courses in social work, psychology and sociology. Gould has been recognized for excellence in teaching and outstanding service.

As Director of Clinical Instruction and Training, Gould is engaged in instructing, motivating and mentoring students.

Gould has participated in humanitarian trips to Puerto Rico and Nairobi, Kenya. Her commitment continues in areas of humanitarian service by working on developing international internships and service opportunities for students.

Gould received a Human Services Certificate from Utah Valley Technical College and an Associate of Science degree from Utah Valley Community College graduating as Outstanding Student and Valedictorian. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Brigham Young University, summa cum laude and was valedictorian. Her master of social work is from the University of Utah where she received the Blanche Scowcroft Willey Award for social work excellence in research, scholarship, curriculum, teaching and clinical practice.
