UVSC Celebrates Founder's Day

To mark the establishment of Utah Valley State College and to commemorate it’s 66th year, the Alumni Association and Student Alumni Association will host a Founder’s Day celebration Sept. 19 in the Sorensen Student Center.

The celebration will take place in the Student Center (or Courtyard) across from the bookstore at 11 a.m. Cake and ice cream will be given away to commemorate the birthday of the institution.

“We want to invite everyone to come celebrate the institution’s founding with us and to take pride in our history,” said Jeri Allphin, director of alumni relations.

This is the third year for the Founder’s Day celebration and each year more people participate. Approximately 700 people celebrated last year, and more are expected this year.

“It’s fun to see so many people attend and enjoy themselves,” Allphin said. It’s wonderful how traditions like Founder’s Day catch on so quickly at UVSC.
