Doris Trujillo, assistant professor of dance and director of Utah Valley State College’s Contemporary Dance Ensemble, recently returned from New York City where she presented her choreographic work “Resilire” at the American Dance Guild’s Festival in the Hudson Guild Theater.
Trujillo’s work was selected through review by the American Dance Guild and she chose to invite the seven original students dancers from Contemporary Dance Ensemble to perform it in this professional venue.
“This opportunity fulfilled the objective of our president’s community of engaged learning initiative,” Trujillo said. “The students were able to experience workshops from master teachers, view current works of internationally acclaimed choreographers and perform in a professional setting. It was a very significant learning experience.”
Contemporary Dance Ensemble performed as part of the ADG 51st Performance Festival 2007, which was held from Sept. 5 to Sept. 8. Thirty-four dance companies from across the United States, Europe and Canada participated.
