An event sponsored by UVSC’s Department of Foreign Languages will highlight the career benefits of foreign language study. Titled “Future Employment Opportunities for Language Students,” the event will feature Thomas Lee Boam, adjunct professor in the executive MBA program at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. He will speak on Thursday, November 8, at 12 p.m. in the Sorenson Student Center, Room 206a.
Boam, a former U.S. government representative for commercial interests in the German Democratic Republic, Hong Kong, China and Canada, will discuss the language of business and how knowing multiple languages has helped him professionally.
“This event is significant for the students’ and the community’s awareness regarding our global community,” said Doug Jensen, associate professor of Spanish and chair of the department. “While pursuing career choices, if you educate yourself in one or more languages besides your own, your opportunities will increase. More doors will open.”
The event is free and open to the public.
