Annual Boy Scout Pow Wow to be held at UVSC
The 51st annual Boy Scout merit badge PowWow will take place on October 28 and November 11 at UVSC and BYU. All Scouts, ages 11-17, are invited to attend this event where they will be able to earn merit badges needed to obtain the rank of an Eagle Scout. The event will be sponsored by The National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America, UVSC and BYU.
“The scouts will have the opportunity to take advantage of the unique trades programs at UVSC,” said Pow Wow committee member Kathryn Van Wagoner.
At UVSC, participating scouts will have the opportunity to take classes taught by UVSC professors and students. The various classes include wood working, metal work, auto mechanics and aviation.
“This event is a good chance to earn merit badges that are hard to achieve in other settings,” Van Wagoner said. “Weve been doing this event for decades and it’s always a lot of fun.”
Online registration for the merit badge PowWow begins August 29 at 9 a.m. at http://powwow.byu.edu. Brochures on the event are available at the Orem Boy Scout office or from local scout leaders.
