Synergy Dance Company to Present “Gatherings”
The Synergy Dance Company of Utah Valley State College will present “Gatherings” Nov. 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ragan Theater as part of UVSC’s Homecoming activities. The concert will feature contemporary choreography by students, faculty and guest artists offering a wide variety of texture, tone and movement.
“The performance will feature dances that take you on a journey,” said Amy Markgraf Jacobson, Synergy Dance director. “Some dances will make you laugh, some will showcase the physicality of the human body and some will highlight the joy of human movement.”
Student choreography will demonstrate skill in crafting and performing choreography that expresses a particular point of view by means of an individual movement voice. Special guest choreographers include Susan McLain, professor of dance at California State University, Long Beach; Robin McLelland, UVSC adjunct faculty; and Juan Carlos Claudio, former Ririe-Woodbury dancer and choreographer. Contemporary Dance Ensemble, UVSC’s newest dance company, will be special guest performers.
A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to the Connie Reynolds Memorial Dance Scholarship, to fund a half tuition scholarship for a dance student at UVSC. For more information on the scholarship, please call the Dance Department, (801) 863-8754.
