UVSC Will Host International Children’s Choir
The International Children’s Choir, an internationally acclaimed and decorated children’s choir based out of Utah, will perform in the UVSC Sorensen Center Ragan Theater Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the concert are free and can be picked up at Campus Connection (810) 863-8797 or at the door. Seating is limited.
The International Children’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kathy Sorensen, recently represented the United States and Utah in the fourth annual World Choir Games in Xiamen, China. The choir was one of more than 400 choirs from 80 countries. They were awarded two Gold Diplomas and two Bronze Medals.
“We had the unique opportunity of inviting the choir to UVSC and they accepted,” said Maryna Storrs, coordinator of international affairs at UVSC. “We’re really excited to host them.”
The choir has been artists-in-residence at Carnegie Hall, St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, at St. Martin-in-the-Fields and Canterbury Cathedral, in Israel, Germany and with the Czech National Orchestra in Smetana Hall, among others. The group also sang for the Festival of Lights in Washington D.C. with Kurt Bestor, and was featured in the nationally touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond. The group has also recorded for soundtracks, movie trailers and video games.
