UVSC Black Student Union Presents Mr. and Ms. UVSC International, “We Are the World”
Utah Valley State College will present the fourth annual Mr. and Ms. UVSC International Pageant, “We Are the World,” A multi cultural showcase Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Ragan Theater. The event is presented by the UVSC Black Student Union in conjunction with UVSC International Week.
The show will feature six couples with diverse backgrounds, including Native American, Haitian, Hawaiian, Asian, Polynesian, Filipino, Brazilian and Latin American. The contestants will be competing in cultural presentations, talent and traditional evening wear, featuring color, music and costumes from around the world.
“We’ve performed to sell-out crowds the past three years,” said Nancy Cannon, counselor in UVSC TRIO Student Support Services. “It is not only entertaining; it is informative about the countries these students come from. The show is a great opportunity to connect with UVSC students from other cultures.”
Pageant tickets are $5. To purchase tickets call Campus Connection at (801) 863- 9797. Proceeds will assist in funding scholarships for the winners.
