Dean of UVSC Wasatch Campus Steps Down

J.D. Davidson yesterday resigned his post as dean of Utah Valley State College’s Wasatch Campus, headquartered in Heber City, Utah. Davidson has been employed at UVSC in various capacities for more than 30 years. Before becoming dean of the Wasatch Campus in 2003, he served more than 10 years as dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at UVSC.

Dr. Cory Duckworth, vice president for student affairs and strategic planning at UVSC, will take over administration duties on an interim basis, and the College will immediately begin searching for a permanent successor.

“J.D. was instrumental in helping launch the Wasatch Campus and has contributed a great amount to the success of UVSC as an institution of higher learning over the years,” said Dr. Cameron Martin, assistant to the president for institutional development and planning.

Davidson came to UVSC in 1972 as an instructor and cooperative education coordinator. He has spent much of his career teaching English and literature at the College and also served as chair of humanities, English, and fine arts for one year in 1990-91. He later served as associate dean in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences from 1991 to 1994 before becoming dean of that school.

The UVSC Wasatch Campus was established in October 2003 and is located in Heber City, Utah, serving the higher education needs in the Wasatch mountain communities. The Wasatch Campus offers a bachelor’s degree in secondary education as well as associate degrees in accounting, behavioral science, business management, elementary education and general education. Currently, approximately 350 students are enrolled at the Wasatch Campus.
