UVSC Homecoming Week Kicks-off with Competition and Entertainment
Utah Valley State College invites friends and alumni to “Go Green” Nov. 6-11 with non-stop activities and reunions on campus leading up to the Wolverine’s first men’s and women’s basketball games of the season Nov. 10 and 11 at the McKay Events Center.
Students will face-off in contests of endurance and survival skills to launch the week-long Homecoming festivities Nov. 6 in the Sorensen Center Commons, with Thumb Wars at 8 a.m. followed by a Camp Challenge from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thumb Wars will reward the student that holds his/her thumb on a remote controlled car the longest, and students will compete in a variety of camping and outdoor activities for prizes at the Camp Challenge.
The annual Homecoming Kickoff will parade through the Courtyard Nov. 6 at noon with a Pep Band performance, athlete meet-and-greet, free lunch and activities before the men’s exhibition basketball game versus Mesa State at 7 p.m. that night in the McKay Center.
Students are also encouraged to don UV green all week with daily UV Shirt Swaps from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Sorensen Center, where students can bring in a T-shirt from another college and exchange it for a UVSC tee.
UVSC’s in-house dance performance group, Synergy, will be featured in concert Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Ragan Theater. Tickets are $8 for UVSC students, faculty and staff and $10 for the general public and can be purchased at Campus Connection, (801) 863-8797.
UVSC alumni reunions will be held Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. The School of Business Reunion will be in the McKay Events Center, the Student Alumni Association Reunion will be in the Sorensen Center rooms 206b and 206c and the first annual Education Reunion will be in the Education Building, room 133.
UVSC will also host a Tailgate Party Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. with free food and music at the McKay Events Center prior to the men’s Homecoming game versus Montana State at 7 p.m. The game will be followed by an ASUVSC sponsored student dance at the McKay.
The women’s basketball Homecoming game will be Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. in the McKay Center versus Mesa State. Admission to the women’s basketball game is free. For tickets to the men’s game, call (801) 863-SHOW (7469).

Bocci Ball Tournament- 3 – Meet at the fountains in the Courtyard at 3 p.m. for 2 hours of team-play Bocci Ball action. Teams of 2 will compete in the skillful game that tests accuracy and strategy of Bocci Ball. 5 p.m., Courtyard
