UVSC Names New Administrator for Wasatch Campus

William A. Sederburg, president of Utah Valley State College, today announced the appointment of Shad Sorenson as assistant vice
president for UVSC’s Wasatch Campus in Heber, Utah.

Sorenson has substantial experience as a UVSC administrator, having served most recently as assistant vice president for Student Services
on the Orem campus. He has been at UVSC since 1998. He holds a doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy from the
University of Utah. As a native of Summit County he also has strong ties to the Wasatch region service area and plans to relocate to that
area as soon as practicable.

“Dr. Sorenson is a trusted member of our executive team who has proven his utility and creativity in meeting College demands,” said
President Sederburg. “Under Shad’s leadership we are prepared to accelerate the growth and development of the Wasatch Campus. He is an
innovator and a doer.”

“I believe education is so important and the Wasatch campus brings valuable opportunities to students in Wasatch and Summit counties,”
Sorenson said. “I am looking forward to collaborating with community and business leaders in the area to enhance the campus offerings for
training in personal and professional development. I also feel it is important to work closely with the academic deans on the Orem campus
to develop and refine programs available at Wasatch. This close collaboration will greatly benefit not only our students, but will
assist in reaching the goals and objectives for the campus.”

UVSC is fully committed to improving the Wasatch Campus. Immediate efforts will be made to achieve a full integration of the Wasatch
Campus with the programs, services and resources available on the Orem Campus.

“It is our expectation that Dr. Sorenson will be able to expand our program base at the Wasatch Campus through a spirit of cooperation
and entrepreneurship with the main campus and the community,” Sederburg continued.

In addition, the following activities will provide the framework for the Wasatch agenda:

Clarify all degree offerings and insure course availability
Shore up plans to begin a nursing program at the Wasatch Campus
Work with Enrollment Management to develop a recruitment marketing plan for all programs
Develop programs and offerings that will allow marketing the Wasatch
Campus as a multi-modal educational facility
Advance the economic development mission of the Wasatch Campus
Build a cohesive and trusting staff environment at the Wasatch Campus
Strengthen community relationships

For the immediate future, the Wasatch Campus will report directly to Vice President Cory Duckworth and President Sederburg. Strategic
direction, reorientation of the academic operations and strengthening community relations will be given top-level attention. Vice President
Duckworth will continue to coordinate these activities.

Efforts to fill the assistant vice president for student services position vacated by Sorenson’s reassignment will begin immediately.
